PRIXLUXO – Nordic design students are rewarded for innovative lighting concepts

A year ago four Nordic architect and design institutions were invited to participate in a design competition related to lighting. Students from - Chalmers University of Technology/School of Architecture in Sweden, - Aarhus School of Architecture/Department of Design in Denmark, - Bergen National Academy of the Arts / Department of Design in Norway and - University of Oulo / Department of Architecture in Finland were asked to deliver their contributions.
PRIZE MONEY AND PRIZE PRESENTATION
A total sum of SEK 100 000 will be given. Three winners will be awarded, first, second and third, together with three honorable mentions. The prize-giving ceremony will take place at Stockholm Furniture Fair the 7 February, 2007.
JURY
The contributions have been examined by a jury consisting of:
- Graduate civil engineer Arne Dyngeland, COO in Luxo - Norway
- Prof. and Designer Olle Anderson (chairman) - Sweden
- Prof. and Architect Jan Ejhed - Sweden
- Architect Vesa Honkonen - Finland
PRIXLUXO
It was LUXO who initiated this design competition, which was given the name PRIXLUXO. Totally, 40 works were delivered from the four Nordic countries. The quality was high, according to the jury chairman, Olle Anderson:
- The innovative level matched our expectations. We were especially happy we did not only get works of new products, but that a good part of the contributions were innovative and imaginative concepts. It is about putting the usual jog trot behind and dare to think new.
